For almost a year, the organising committee of the Semaine Olympique Française has designed and developed many measures to welcome the elite of Olympic sailing in the safest conditions possible. All scenarios were considered and proposed to the DIGES (France’s inter-ministerial delegation for major sporting events), but unfortunately they have not given their permission and the event will not be able to take place in April.
We thank you again for your registration for the SOF 2021 and kindly request that you read the Notice of Race Amendment published today, February 16th, 2021 that is available on the SOF website.
As indicated in the Notice of Race addendum A, registration for the Semaine Olympique Française (SOF – the French Olympic Week) will close temporarily from Feb 1st until Feb 15th the latest. The Organizing Authority will review the registration list with the various MNA during this 15 day period.
Hyères’s 53rd Semaine Olympique Française will take place from April 17 to 24, 2021. The last big sailing meet before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the SOF in the south of France will bring together the 10 classes competing in Japan in August 2021, as well as the 4 new disciplines that will be competing on the waters of Marseille at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In addition, the offshore race, which the IOC will decide on May 31whether to include in the Olympics, will also be contested. Thus, this edition of the SOF promises an unprecedented level of competition, especially as it will be an opportunity for the European laserists to clinch the final remaining places for Tokyo, while the Finn event will also double as their 2021 European Championship.
Please check the notice board to consult the notice of race of the competition. You'll find all the information about eligibility and entry, fees, schedule, scoring.
